Hi Guys,
yesterday I found something quite interesting. The idea came to me while thinking about Nations League Scoreboards during the finals this summer but could only test it (succesfully)yesterday.
There is a simple way of changing crests for specific scoreboards with CGFS without touching the hex. It is not as sophisticated and elegant as the method @RHZhang used for MLS but it is working. Obviously easy methods have there disadvantaged. Though I found only two (without extensive testing):
Disadvantages:
-changes temporarily effect menus
-recreation of original state might require manual backups
(in my opinion both are far outweighed by the advantages, see below and detailed explanations)
Advantages:
-no additional hex editing or other programming needed
-quick and easy use (especially with CGFS)
-can easily be applied to already existing scoreboards as well
Additional features
with this method following can be altered as well:
-tournament specific minikits for overlays
-tournament specific fancards (tifos)
How it works:
When you assign a scoreboard/overlay set with CGFS before starting a match of this tournament CGFS copies the files from ScoreBoardGBD/"Tournament" into your data/ui folder. These files are then used as long they are replaced manually or by CGFS. (see disadvantages)
But the SocreBoardGBD has much more features. Basically your Tournament folder within is an alternative data/ui folder. Means to say anything you put in a ScoreBoard/"Tournament" will be copied and applied.
(@JochemLFC2 same applies to your manual method as basically you do the same as File Server just manually)
Before you start (like always) create a backup of the files you want to alter.
So for crests basically you create following folders (lets say UEFA Nations League):
ScoreboardGBD/UEFA-Nations League/imgAssets
-crest (regular 256x256)
-crest 16x16
-crest 64x64
Here two examples talking about the disadvantages as well:
Example one: UEFA International Teams (Qualifiers - Nations League - World Cup)
All three tournaments have different team crests: UEFA Qualifiers the round ones, Nations League diamond and WC 2022 diamond but different ones.
You can create 3 Scoreboard sets and put them in three different folders within ScorebaordGBD. Now you need as well 3 sets of crests which you put in the tournament folders imgAssets/crest, crest 16x16 and crest 64x64.
As long as you have these tournaments correctly assigned and CGFS is on, it will always correctly switch among them. Within your menu the last used will show during the team selection. In kick off mode (or when CGFS is off) as well this crest will appear.
I personally really do not feel the disadvantages. If the menu or EA generic scoreboards is using the Federation crest or any of the stylized flags i do not care.
(@RobbieD_PL: for your patch (as we want to fully adapt graphics) it might be an aesthtic problem. We might apply the switcher you used for EURO/Copa 2021 change to restore defaults)
Example Two: Spanish La Liga Teams
(I chose them as they have several teams on international stage and UEFA is using regular crests in their scoreboards)
You need (lets say only 3) following folders in ScoreBoardGBD: La Liga, Copa del Rey and Europa League.
Within Europa Leaugue and Copa del Rey you put the regular crests, in La Liga you place the single coloured ones. CGFS automatically switches so in Career Mode or Tournament Mode there is no real disadvantage (if you use the manual method no problem again)
"Minikits" the same: You put classic minikits into Copa Del Rey, the simpified ones (see screenshot above) in Europa League and the half circles with the team colours for La Liga. Yes these graphics will appear in menu during the kit selection (but, at least I cannot care less)
To restore the original state either play a game with a tournament with original crests/minikits or simply use your backup and copy it back into data/ui.
Conclusion: If you use CGFS the above mentioned disadvantages are only real ones if you are creating menus that are applied to existing crests. Obviously they do not fit graphically then.
