Rimworld ist ein erbarmungsloses Aufbauspiel mit viel Frustpotential und genauso könnte man den Umgang
mit geschenkten Keys von vielen Käufern beschreiben. Der Einmann-Entwickler wollte seinen Käufern zum Steam Release am 16.07.2016 eine Freude machen und schenkte jedem der es vor Release gekauft hatte einen Steam-Key.
Kurze Zeit später waren viele von diesen Keys bei Key-Sellern zu finden,
zudem sollen ein paar Leute mit geklauten Kreditkarten hunderte Kopien gekauft haben und die damit
verbunden Rückzahlungsgebühren könnten dem noch jungen Entwickler das Genick brechen.
Als Konsequenz bekommt man jetzt nur noch einen Key, entweder DRM frei von der Website oder eben von Steam.

The game is, of course, for sale on Steam if you want a Steam copy. Buying from our site will give DRM-free copies as before, but no Steam key. All the stolen keys are being cancelled, and should be deactivated before they can be sold (or soon after, depending on how fast Valve does it). The funds they were stolen with are being returned to their rightful owners. If you don’t want to get ripped off by fraudsters, be sure to buy direct from Steam." so die Worte des Entwicklers.
