Arsenal striker swap deal with Dortmund on the cards?
Arsenal’s swap deal with Borussia Dortmund seems to be on the cards, but a possible move will only occur after this summer’s EURO 2012.
The Gunners are looking to offload striker Nicklas Bendtner, and have been linked with many of Dortmunds players including Gotze, Kagawa, Kevin Grosskreutz and Lewandowski. The first one has been long linked with the Gunners, and Wenger has publically stated his interest in him, but a long contract with Dortmund will probably stop him from leaving.
At the moment it looks like Arsenal are much closer to signing Grosskreutz, who claimed that he’s looking forward to offers from a Premiership team. Bendtner also seems interested in leaving the Gunners for good, and said yesterday: “I have stated all the time that I am focused on the European Championship. When it is finished, I will handle my club situation,”
When asked about a link with Dortmund he added: “It’s a fantastic club, there are no doubts about that.”
Arsene Wenger is still looking for another striker, and either Lewandowski or Grosskreutz would be great additions for the squad, although Lewandowski seems to be the right kind of player Arsenal could really do with next season.
