Flag tutorial for newbies - Fifa 12

Before we start making our flags, we need to do some research. Let's say we choose to make Botev Plovdiv flags.

Personally I start by opening Google and type some of these "Botev Plovdiv | Ultras Botev | Botev Supporters" and everything else that will help me. From the results I get some Botev supporters sites and start looking
at them for pics. Sometimes it's easy, because there is special "banners" gallery in the sites, but if there is not, I just click on "google images" and start watching there.

When we saved few good pics of flags, we are ready to start working on them.
Open photoshop and load some of the pics.


Look at the flag and see what we need. In our case we should find the font and the logo.
How to find the font? - There are few ways to do that. You can ask for the font in the supporters forum, typing "Urban Order Font" in google(and hope someone else asked before you, so you can just seeit), or use one of the "font recognize sites". In case we don't find out our font, we can always use some similar one.
I found out that the font is called "stylo" and download it.

Looking at the logo. There are always big chances to get the logo from the net, but if you cand found the logo, you can always draw it by using Adobe Ilustrator. Of course it will get some time, but at the end we will have the logo.

In my case, it's enough to see the logo to know that this is Plovdiv town crest. Wikipedia have every town logo, so just typing "Plovdiv wiki" on google and get the logo from Wikipedia.

Now I see that the flag is seems to be something like 7-8 x 1,50-2 meter. I use 100px for 1 meter, so I create a new file in photoshop with size of 800x150px. Paint it in black(#231f20) /NEVER USE THE DARKEST BLACK (#000000) BECAUSE THE TEMPLATE WILL BE NOT VISIBLE ON IT/

Now load the logo of the town and resize it to be like in the real one. After we do that, we use "text tool" and when selected "stylo" font - start writing the flag text.


When we are done, I suggest to you first to save the flag on your drive so you can always use it if you need.

Open some flag template. I'll use the classic one and resize it to cover all the flag we just made. Then make the template layer multiply and you can also use some "Burn tool" if you think to give some more darknes on the flag.


Now open the "Flag map". This is the flag map I always working on.


Put our flag on it, resize it and it's time to give some waves. Filter>Distort>Wave and add these settings: (by clicking randomize you get different results)


Now it's time to give some shadow. Right click on the flag layer>blending options>drop shadow and add these settings: (I use these, but you can use other)


We are ready with our first flag. We do the same procedure with the other flags and when we are ready, we just make the "flag map" unvisible, save the file as png and import it in the game.
